Edmonton and Area Land Trust – Citizen Science Program

Since 2021, the Edmonton and Area Land Trust (EALT) has recruited approximately 100-150 volunteers per year to complete a variety of wildlife surveys on our lands.

As a local charity, EALT relies extensively on the help of our dedicated volunteers. Our Citizen Scientist volunteers monitor wildlife and contribute to increased scientific knowledge of plant and animal species. Visiting our conservation lands with another trained partner, Citizen Scientists have an opportunity to conduct their surveys on a schedule that works for them, and contribute to conservation in meaningful ways.

Citizen Science activities at EALT vary by year, but have included Amphibian Monitoring, Bat Box Monitoring, Bird/Loon Surveying, Butterfly Surveying, Field Ornithology, and gartersnake relocation and monitoring. More information can be found on our website.
